How Much Does CoolSculpting® Cost?

nazaraian treatment

You’ve heard great things about the CoolSculpting® treatment but the big question is, “how much does CoolSculpting cost?”

Since everyone’s body type and end goals are so different, don’t be surprised that most providers won’t give you a cost estimate over the phone.

They will typically want to assess your body in person, so they can give you the most accurate quote and help set expectations.

If you’ve ever had braces, it’s a pretty similar experience: the orthodontist typically wants to see your teeth before telling you what it would take to straighten them out.

Similarly, your CoolSculpting provider wants to see your bothersome areas before giving you a treatment plan to achieve your goals.

So, How Much Does CoolSculpting Cost?

As with most medical aesthetic treatments, the cost of CoolSculpting depends on your personal goals. While CoolSculpting is offered at a variety of medical facilities, from plastic surgeon and dermatologist offices to medspas, the price will be dependent on your personalized treatment plan. Some providers may offer payment plans – similarly to paying off a new appliance like a refrigerator!

When her patients ask, “how much does CoolSculpting cost?”, Dr. Sheila Nazarian from Nazarian Plastic Surgery responds,

The CoolSculpting cost really depends on how much fat you have and how many areas you want to treat… Most CoolSculpting treatments cost anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000, depending on how many areas you want to treat.

– Dr. Sheila Nazarian

The price for the CoolSculpting treatment is also dependent on your areas of concern, the number of treatments needed, and your ultimate goals. Some areas may also need multiple treatments to see desired results. Since the treatment is so personalized, doing an in-person consultation with a nearby provider is the best way to get the most accurate quote for your customized CoolSculpting procedure.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting uses a patented technology based on cryolipolysis to freeze and eliminate fat from stubborn areas, non-invasively. CoolSculpting is a non surgical procedure with little to no downtime! CoolSculpting’s patented cooling technology treats your problem areas and lowers the temperature of the treated area to just the right degree where your fat cells freeze, but your skin cells aren’t affected.

CoolSculpting can address stubborn fat in the areas that bother you most: muffin top (abdomen), love handles (flanks), double chin (submental fat), under the jawline (submandibular), upper arms, bra fat, back fat, banana rolls (fat underneath the buttocks), saddle bags (outer thighs) or inner thighs. CoolSculpting is growing in popularity, with thousands of providers worldwide and millions of treatments performed.

How to Start Your CoolSculpting Journey

Since everyone’s body and goals are a little different, the only way to get an accurate price is to have an in-person consultation with a CoolSculpting provider.

At your consultation, you can discuss your problem areas and goals, and the provider can give you a personalized estimate.

Common CoolSculpting Questions

You’ve got questions?

If you’re thinking about trying CoolSculpting®, here are a few things you should know.

IS THE COOLSCULPTING® TREATMENT RIGHT FOR ME?

CoolSculpting® is a fat-reduction treatment for men and women who want to get rid of stubborn pockets of fat in certain areas of their body (see FDA cleared areas for treatment). CoolSculpting® is NOT a weight loss procedure. CoolSculpting® is a nonsurgical alternative that has little to no downtime.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

That all depends on what areas you treat and how many treatments you have. Many patients choose to do CoolSculpting® in multiple areas to reach their ideal end result. Typically, CoolSculpting® will cost anywhere between $2000-$4000 for a personalized treatment plan.

When you meet with a CoolSculpting® consultant, they will work with you to find a personalized treatment that fits your body and your budget. In fact, many CoolSculpting® providers offer flexible payment plans to help you get the results you want without having to pay the full cost upfront.

CAN COOLSCULPTING® REDUCE FAT ON EVERY PART OF MY BODY?

CoolSculpting® is FDA-cleared for the treatment of visible fat bulges in the submental (under the chin) and submandibular (under the jawline) areas, thigh, abdomen and flank, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks (also known as banana roll) and upper arm. It is also FDA-cleared to affect the appearance of lax tissue with submental area treatments.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY COOLSCULPTING® TREATMENT?

The applicator will be placed on the treatment area and there will be a slight sucking sensation as it adheres to your body, followed by that signature cooling effect. During the procedure, you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular area treatment.

HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE?

Each CoolSculpting® treatment is different, so it depends on which areas of the body and how many of them you plan on doing. Depending on the area, treatment can be done in as little as 35 minutes. The CoolSmooth applicator is discontinued, however, some practices may still use it. If you opt to do multiple treatments in a session, expect to spend more time. Some providers have multiple CoolSculpting® machines, allowing patients to do multiple treatment areas at once, reducing the amount of time spent in the office.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?

While you will see up to a 20-25% fat reduction in the treated area after a single treatment, it depends on the person and the area being treated. Your provider will work with you to determine if additional treatments are necessary to reach your desired goal.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

You’ll start to see changes as soon as 1-3 months post-treatment. Final results may take 6 months or more.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE FROZEN FAT CELLS?

CoolSculpting® uses cryolipolysis, which is just a technical way to say fat-freezing. When fat cells freeze, they die and are then naturally eliminated through the body’s natural process. Don’t worry: This process happens so gradually, you won’t necessarily notice a difference in your day-to-day life.

IS THE COOLSCULPTING® TREATMENT SAFE?

CoolSculpting® has been cleared by the FDA to effectively treat nine different areas of the body (see the FDA cleared areas below). Clinical trials have demonstrated CoolSculpting® to be safe and effective in reducing fat in certain areas.

WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE COOLSCULPTING®?

The CoolSculpting® treatment is not for everyone. You should not have it done if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. The CoolSculpting® procedure is not a weight-loss treatment. As with any medical procedure, ask your physician if CoolSculpting® is right for you.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS AFTER A TREATMENT?

Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular area treatment. Rare side effects may also occur. Paradoxical hyperplasia (visibly enlarged tissue volume in the treated area) may develop two to five months after treatment and requires surgical intervention for correction. As with any medical procedure, ask your physician if CoolSculpting® is right for you.

CAN I GAIN WEIGHT AFTER HAVING A COOLSCULPTING® TREATMENT?

The CoolSculpting® treatment helps eliminate stubborn pockets of fat. But, since CoolSculpting® is not a weight loss treatment, it is possible to gain weight post-treatment if you don’t keep up your healthy habits. This kind of weight gain will most likely happen evenly throughout your body, not just in treatment areas.

WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER A COOLSCULPTING® TREATMENT?

Because CoolSculpting® is a voluntary cosmetic treatment, it is not normally covered by insurance providers and FSA companies. Check directly with your insurer to learn what is covered under your plan benefits. Alternatively, you can also check with your CoolSculpting® provider to see if they offer financing options.

The CoolSculpting® – What To Expect?

If you are a candidate for the CoolSculpting® treatment, your doctor will work with you to create a customized treatment plan depending on your goals. Here’s an idea of what you can expect at your first treatment.

Get Prepped

Your provider will apply a clear gel pad to the treatment area. This creates a barrier between the cooling panel and your skin. Clinical trials have demonstrated CoolSculpting® to be safe and effective in reducing fat in certain areas.

Let Science Go To Work

You’ll feel a slight sucking sensation as the applicator adheres to your body. During the procedure, you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb. See additional Important Safety Information below.

And Chill The CoolSculpting® experience

During the treatment, you will be able to read, answer emails, or chat with a friend. After the applicator is detached, your provider will do a brief massage on the area to break up the treated fat cells and enhance the fat reduction. That’s it! Most patients experience little to no downtime after treatment.

One Treatment With Coolsculpting® Reduces Up To 20-25% Of Fat Cells In The Treated Area

You may need more than one treatment to reach your desired results and get the most out of your CoolSculpting® experience.

Understanding Fat Reduction

Understanding fat reduction

They may sound similar, but fat reduction and weight loss are two very different things. Losing weight doesn’t always lead to a more sculpted appearance—but fat reduction can change the shape and contours of your body.

How Fat Cells Work

The number of fat cells is set during childhood and adolescence. That number varies little in adulthood. The number of fat cells is specific to you and varies from person to person.

So What Happens When Your Weight Fluctuates?

When you start to gain weight, those fat cells expand, which in turn causes your waistline (and hips, and double chin, and thighs) to expand. When you eat healthy and exercise regularly, those fat cells shrink to give a slimmer and trimmer shape. If you stop those healthy habits, they will expand again, adding unwanted bulges.

What Happens To Treated Fat Cells?

CoolSculpting®, using cryolipolysis technology, is a noninvasive treatment that targets and freezes fat cells, resulting in up to 20-25% fat reduction in the treated areas.

Pinpoint Your Trouble Spots

With CoolSculpting®, you can pinpoint exact trouble spots where you’d like to reduce fat. The treatment is FDA-cleared in 9 different areas from double chins to back fat. You will work directly with a provider to customize a CoolSculpting® treatment plan that’s unique to you and your body contouring goals.

It’s Not Weight Loss. It’s Fat Loss.

CoolSculpting® helps sculpt your body in certain areas. You’ll find your clothes fit better, look better, and feel better on you.

How Does CoolSculpting® Work? Read About a Full CoolSculpting Treatment

Perhaps you recently heard about CoolSculpting, and now you’re wondering, “how does CoolSculpting work?” Well, you’ve come to the right place!

Dr. Mary Lupo, a #CoolSculptingPro, gives us a behind-the-curtain look as two women get the CoolSculpting treatment while answering Frequently Asked Questions about the treatment.

What is CoolSculpting?

The CoolSculpting fat-freezing treatment is the only FDA-cleared,* non-surgical fat-reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat that may be resistant to diet and exercise. The results are proven and noticeable. The CoolSculpting® procedure is FDA-cleared for the treatment of visible fat bulges in the submental (under the chin) and submandibular (under the jawline) areas, thigh, abdomen and flank, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks (also known as banana roll) and upper arm. It is also FDA-cleared to affect the appearance of lax tissue with submental area treatments. The CoolSculpting® procedure is not a treatment for weight loss.

With over 8 million treatments worldwide, there’s no shortage of testimonials and reviews for CoolSculpting online.

Well, for me as a dermatologist, it’s very important that I see the science; I want to have something that has clinical efficacy that we know works. But, I also need something that has a good safety profile and a good patient tolerance profile.

– Dr. Mary Lupo on why she chose CoolSculpting

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

Do you have stubborn fat that just won’t go away, no matter how much you exercise? This is where a CoolSculpting treatment comes in. It’s important to understand that CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss technique, but a way to help reduce pesky, unwanted fat. CoolSculpting is non-surgical, meaning there is little to no downtime after treatment. Because the procedure – done at a doctor’s office – reduces fat in treated areas by up to 20%-25%, it can help patients achieve their body contouring goals. The CoolSculpting® procedure is not for everyone. You should not have the CoolSculpting® procedure if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria.

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

One of the most common questions physicians are asked is, “how does CoolSculpting work?” The CoolSculpting treatment works by a process called cryolipolysis. The fat cells in the treated area are crystalized (frozen) to the point where they are damaged and die – a process called apoptosis, or programmed cell death. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates the dead cells.

After a CoolSculpting treatment, a massage is done to mobilize the fat that has been released from the damaged fat cells.

We often find that when patients start a process like CoolSculpting, they continue to live a healthy lifestyle to maintain their results.

– Dr. Mary Lupo

How Many Areas Can I Treat with CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared for 9 treatment areas: abdomen, flanks, submental area (below the chin), the submandibular area (below the jawline), bra fat, back fat, inner and outer thighs, upper arms and underneath the buttocks. Treatments to more than one area can even be performed in the same day.

What If I Need More Than One Treatment in the Same Area?

Most CoolSculpting providers wait about 1 to 3 months to see if an area would benefit from being treated again. You’ll want to consult with your provider to determine if treating the area again will help you reach your body contouring goals.

How Does CoolSculpting® Work?

What is the First Step to Getting Treatment?

The first step in the treatment process is an assessment. The doctor and/or CoolSculpting specialist will discuss your medical history and perform a thorough assessment on the patient to determine if you are a candidate for the CoolSculpting treatment. During the assessment, other areas that may be impacting the patient’s shape or figure are also determined.

It is important that the fat is subcutaneous – fat that can be grabbed or pulled. By the end of the assessment, the team of medical professionals and the patient decide on a treatment plan to help the patient achieve their unique body sculpting goals.

What Does the CoolSculpting Treatment Feel Like?

After your treatment area(s) are properly marked, and the skin in that area is prepared, the CoolSculpting treatment is ready to begin.

First, a protective gel is applied to the treatment area. Then, the applicator is applied to the skin and treatments can take as little as 35 minutes. During this process, the patient is made as comfortable as possible.

During the first 3 minutes, the patient often feels a cold sensation. During minutes 3-5, the patient may feel a slight cold tingling sensation – like if you were to stick your hand in an ice chest.

After this stage, the area will be numb for the rest of the procedure, and for some minutes after treatment. During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb. You can even bring a book or computer to have during the procedure!

How Long Does It Take to See Results?

Many patients may begin to see results in as early as 1 to 3 months after treatment. CoolSculpting results are seen over a period of a few months because the process of cell death is not instantaneous! Fat cell death happens over time – but once the fat cells are destroyed, they won’t return.

Are There Any Side Effects After the Treatment?

Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular area treatment. Rare side effects may also occur. CoolSculpting® may cause a visible enlargement in the treated area which may develop two to five months after treatment and requires surgical intervention for correction. See additional important safety information below.

The Next Step in Your CoolSculpting Journey

Now that you have a better understanding to the question, “how does CoolSculpting work?” it’s time to find out if you are a good candidate for the treatment. Take this short quiz to help determine if CoolSculpting may be right for you.

Benefits Of CoolSculpting

The Benefits Of CoolSculpting You Need To Know.

With every new year, people make resolutions on how to eat healthier and be more fit in the coming months. This is hugely contributed to by the December festivities, where it is hard to stick to the goals of healthy eating as there are temptations everywhere. You may decide to go to the gym and burn the fat off gradually as you await the results. However, these days, with the advancement of technology, there is a way to get rid of stubborn fats, without going to the gym. This process is called CoolSculpting. Read on to find out more about is, and what the benefits are for you.

What Is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a noninvasive body contouring treatment whose aim is to target and destroy fat. The fat cells are usually frozen, and once they have been destroyed, they are broken down gradually and removed from the body through the liver. It helps to target those stubborn fats that are not responding to your work at the gym. The good news about this procedure is that the FDA approves it; therefore, it is safe to be used on the human body.

What Are The Benefits Of CoolSculpting?

  • It Focuses On Fat Reduction.

Weight loss and fat reduction may seem like the same thing, but they are very different. Since the human body has fat cells, when you gain weight, these cells expand to make more room for the additional fat deposits on the body. Weight loss usually results in a smaller frame as its goal is to shed the fat in these cells. However, the downside to this is that you can gain fat in the cells with time, once you fall off your diet. CoolSculpting, on the other hand, works on freezing the fat cells themselves, hence leading to the shredding of the excess fast cells since they die from the cold. Due to the fat cells dying, fat cannot return to the cell site.

  • It Is Non-Invasive.

One of the reasons why this process has gained popularity over the years is that it is noninvasive, which makes it a safer option compared to the other invasive options. It uses a treatment method that usually freezes fat cells in the targeted areas, and the other areas are left untouched. Over the following weeks, your body will get rid of the cells gradually, leaving you with a leaner version of yourself.

  • It Treats Different Areas Of The Body.

CoolSculpting can be used in different areas of the body, which is a plus for anyone who wants to focus on a specific area. It is usually used for love handles, the stomach, chin, upper arms, and thighs.

  • It Is A Quick Procedure.

One of the best things about CoolSculpting is that the process takes minutes, and then you will be free to go on with your day. The time taken for each treatment will depend on the area being treated. Once you are done, you can continue with your daily activities for the day with no problem, as opposed to other procedures.

  • Natural-Looking Results.

If you are looking for a procedure that will give you natural-looking contours, then CoolSculpting is the solution for you. It will take time before the contours begin to show, but it will be worth it. You will love the natural-looking results since no one wants to look unnatural.

  • Long-Lasting Results.

With this procedure, you will begin to notice results within eight to twelve weeks. These results can last a long time if you adhere to a healthy lifestyle. Remember that CoolSculpting permanently destroys the fat cells but does not prevent the formation of new ones. Therefore, if you do not follow a healthy diet, you will not maintain the results. But if you follow them and make healthy-living a lifestyle choice, the procedure will work wonders for you and leave you with long-lasting results that you will love.

As seen above, CoolSculpting is an excellent non-invasive procedure for anyone looking to have a permanent fat reduction after a weight loss or during their weight maintenance. It has numerous benefits as seen above, and is a perfect solution for anyone looking to lose around 10-30 pounds. If you do not want a surgical procedure, then you can try this option. However, remember that a healthy lifestyle is paramount to making it all work.
